Undiscovered Gems – The Electric Arch, Handshake, Mauger, Love Crumbs x Cloud Belly

The Electric Arch pulled us in with the immersive aggressive design of their new single Sound of Water, Sound of Suction.  The intriguing arrangement enhances the songs already eclectic nature, a mix of dance pop and post punk full of attitude and art school flash.

This is our kind of experimental, presenting as entirely different and exotic while retaining an undeniable catchy infection.  This is a true undiscovered Gem flying way too far under the radar.  Say you heard them first.  A sure thing for fans of Post Punk and classic art dance punk like The Talking Heads or LCD Soundsystem.

Handshake pens a cosmic dreamy gem with their impressive new single Far From The Sun.  Like a  freaky chemical fueled nightmare Far From The Sun feels like a trip on the brink of falling to the flip side.  The narrative honors the sentiment, as the singer describes his limits.  Lyrically it effectively describes a familiar process within an intense trip. “Once in a while, I’d like to smile…”.

Tread lightly.  Handshake is effective, and they’ve embodies this experience with catchy melodic brilliance.  As if King Gizzard or Congratulations era MGMT collaborated with The Flaming Lips.

Mauger presents their most dreamy folky psych pop work in their new single A Mindless Move.  They add the intriguing detail of presenting this work live.  The studio version was release on their recent full length Shiny, and the new release features them performing the single Live At Boma.  It gorgeous, intimate, and authentic.  It presents as studio quality despite its in concert creation.

The Belgium band shows that they’re more than an art studio project, their performances deliver.  A sentimental melancholy dreams, A Mindless Move appropriate builds to a dramatic finish.  Hear for yourself.

Love Crumbs and Cloudbelly caught our attention with their new collaboration Vacant Dream.  An intriguing indie folk Americana composition bears an influence of shoegaze and post rock in the vein of a buried electric guitars soft fury.  It brings atmosphere where the lap steel might traditionally be, conceptualizing the buried fury masked by this seemingly harmonious indie folk.

The strife builds in the songs emphatic climax, one that honors the sonic build.  The composition and vibe bridges the gap between Gregory Alan Isakov and Big Thief.  We find it exhilarating.
