Get your night started with the anthemic appeal of role model, the new single from sunnytheduo. The song is undeniable and has serious radio breakout potential. It’s young and edgy while retaining a melodic intrigue to captivate the entire indie listener base. It has the potential to breakthrough in the same way that Wet Leg and Del Water Gap have found some commercial appeal.
The sonic design recalls late 90s classics like Steal My Sunshine with an added indie flair to warp these vibes new. The vocals are insanely catchy with an underlying punk attitude to add to the collective appeal. Role model is a sure thing. Say you heard them first.

Meadowlark painstakingly recorded three piano parts at once on the same instrument to document the main part for their new single Borrowed. The result is awe inspiring and seemingly impossible. Their efforts thrive on this catchy smart release. Adapting out of the intro into a vibe rich groove featuring a stuttering bass line, Borrowed is a straight jam.
The contrast of the melancholy piano and bombastic beat combined with the vocal brings dark beautiful fury. The affect is cinematic and adds to the projects collective aura. Dark dreamy indie folk at its essence, but produced with lush arrangements that continually honor the fire inside.
Meadowlark is a sure thing for fans of Oh Wonder and SYML.

Dreamcat pulled at our nostalgic heart strings with their new single Fresh Air. A rare Alaskan indie pop export, its dark pop with a synthwave heart. The vibe screams cabin fever, with dooming melancholy that penetrates the shimmery synth pop design. The artist admits that the lyrics of “Fresh Air” are supposed to be a beacon of hope and light for warmer weather and better times ahead. In the hardship that is living in Alaska, only dreamcat could produce such convincing contrast.
There’s an added sexual energy, it’s seductive and adds to the musical tension. It may be a reflection of the projects mission. The inspiration for this EP is largely tied to dreamcat’s journey with sobriety. After being out of rehab for a couple of months, the artist turned to music as a therapeutic outlet for the soul. The vulnerabilities pierce through, and through his suffering, great art prevails.
dreamcat reminds us of a combination of early MGMT and Future Islands.

Joe McLeod pens an instant classic with his recent What A Pity. Somehow the artist finds the middle ground between the catchy classic feel of Lake Street Dive, the yacht nostalgia of Dr Dog, and the alt Americana rock of Wilco.
What a Pity has it all, a trademark tagline in the hook, a passionate believable vocal performance, and a warm analog style mix. The collective presentation breathes with life, a trademark known to classic rock but lost on modern indie breakthroughs. McLeod shows there’s still room to roam within this space.
