We have a crush on quinnie. Her new single Gold Ring suggests a trend, she’s a great songwriter with a magical arrangers touch. Gold Ring adapts an influence of Joni Mitchell or Neil Young with elite indie flavor. It adds a blend of Big Thief or Kurt Vile to match its classic Laurel Canyon influence. Her voice is the songs most impactful characteristic. It rings with small town humility and curious appeal.
“Maybe it’s forever, maybe I’m not sure.” The sentiment is a combination of purity, innocence, and confusion. Gold Ring doesn’t hide from its naivety. It’s something to be cherished in a world that schemes exploitation. The unfortunate relatability reflects the songs somber melodic tendencies. quinnie is a clever storyteller who can land a harsh truth softly, and in Gold Ring we hear a dynamic broad indie hit.

There’s an anthemic detail to his music. It’s bears an influence of electronic music into this broad indie dynamic. The new single Soft Words has a little of all of this. It’s wonderfully cinematic and quite visceral. It wears 3 personalities within one songs cloak. Much like the dynamic artist himself, Soft Words lands hard.

Jack Sloan caught our attention with their infectious new single Wait. This art pop aesthetic adds some electro flavor courtesy of the crisp snare drops. Stylistically Wait bears a heavy influence of The Talking Heads and LCD Soundystem, but with Sloan’s own proficient musicianship to adapt these vibes all his own.
The guitar work is delectable, tickling you senses with its palmed percussive picking. The arrangement is overall intriguing, with the bass and parrallell guitars intersecting in fits of vamped riffs. That design also bears an influence of The Strokes or Franz Ferdinand. Acts known for their Smart Guitar pop. We can dig it.
