Quality Cinema Band honor their namesake with an intriguing music video triumph for their single Consumer. At its root the cinemetography sparkles in a trivial average home setting. No easy feat. In tandem with the Truman Show narrative Quality Cinema Band effectively make our mundane seem poetic. There are clever details that tie the story to the song and make it a music video proper. Most importantly its thought provoking and amplifies their artistic nature.
The songs a jam too, mirroring 80s alternative with new indie makeup. There’s a genuine nature to the performance, a testament to their assumed post punk garage roots. Somewhere between the auras of The Replacements and Okkerville River.

We got lost in the intoxicating swagger of Kind of, the new single from Benny Boy. The Birmingham based passion project from Multi instrumentalist Benjamin Mills brings a chill psych pop vibe. Kind of bridges the auras of Velvet Underground and Mac Demarco. It’s a melancholy groove fit for a beachside bike ride.
The trademark lap steel glides hypnotically between smooth doses of stretched lyrical notes. Every word is slothed to match its slacker reverence, an affect that lends to its collective laid back appeal. We can dig it.
