Retro Pop Revival – GHAZT, Yung Dead One, ROOTIME, Missing Words,

GHAZT dips into the synthwave world with the infectious classic appeal of their single Midnight Drive.  True to synth waves retro pop origins, Midnight Drive offers unmistakable nostalgia.  It’s a desired cliche that resonates with its audience effectively.

Midnight Drive connects with the scenes founders, artist like Kristine and The G who could never be mistaken for anything but retro pop purveyors. The futurist tropical vice cover stamps the intention.  Midnight Drive is a sure thing for synthwave fans in need of a female lead vocal driven refresh.

Synthwave expands with Forever Is Not a Poem, the new single from Yung Dead One.  A gorgeous combination of classic influence and modern inspiration, Yung Dead One injects Petey style vibes into the synthwave framework.  It sets them apart without alienating them from this exciting underground community.  We find it entrancing and we hear stylistic relevance to one of our other favorite under appreciated synthwave acts, Retroglyphs.

Citing the 1975 and Tears For Fears as influences, Yung Dead One connects with acts who know no niche prisons, its just their natural inclination that produces this music, and it shows in their vibe and the layers of their arrangements.  Yung Dead One is the real deal.

Missing Words caught our attention with their new single Forever Mine.  Minimalistic electro pop with a synthwave heart, for us they blend the ethos of The XX with the first wave retro feel of Chromatics.  Its heard in the illuminating guitar work and disaffected emotive vocal.

That nostalgic detail traces this vibe back to originators like New Order.  Missing Words is James Meays, Colin Wood, and Jameson Meays. Known for their eclectic brand of synth-pop and energetic live shows, the three-piece band is venturing into uncharted territories.

ROOTIME drops a groovy synthwave jam featuring vocalist Karina Ramage.  Her pop R&B flavor suits the timeless infection of their new song Starlight.  A surefire hit in any era, the vibe recalls icons like Daft Punk and how they infected retro pop with modern electro fever.

The nostalgic flair is undeniable, instantly connecting with the synthwave scene while offering a new angle within that canon.  Get on the dance floor, Starlight is meant for the lime light.
