You’re immediately grabbed by the feel good flow permeating from the introductory guitar progression on Burn Out, the new single from leeny jones. The broken affect of the vocal performance and this tortured narrative add some delectable contrast.
Jones sings with a hurt and vulnerability that’s refreshing. It gives her works relatability and authenticity. Stylistically we hear evidence of Big Thief with some of the more contemporary but still clever melodic charm known to Brandi Carlisle. We can dig it.

Morning Bear stays true to their dreamy melatonin mantra on their recent Reap and Sow. Like a soulful sedative their brand of indie folk is calming, offering some metaphysical reverence meant for church halls and reflective chambers.
It’s a testament to how their music connects with a universal fabric in the same way that projects like Darlingside and sometimes Fleet Foxes thrust us into an interpretive dream state. Morning Bear adds some accentuated melodic flair with a trembling head turning vibrato. Reap and Sow is another strong single from this buzz worthy under the radar indie folk project.

Alison Wilder honors a new classic with her cover of Isakov’s If I go I’m goin. Her voice offers an added lush essence. It gives the song a new exotic nature, as Isakov’s composition offers a gorgeous melodic canvas for her to indulge her rich emotive voice. Beautifully produced, an atmospheric lapsteel adds to the heavenly aura.
Wilder is a fantastic writer as well. Originals like My Father’s Daughter reflect Isakov’s introspective new folk standard. She offers something sincere and genuine in contempt of Nashville’s beer and babe rhetoric. We also hear the otherworldly influence of Allison Krauss and how she adapts roots music with a dreamy chamber pop inclination. Like them Alison Wilder offers music meant for the important moments in life and the memories they represent. Reconnect with your truth.
