Music Videos We Love – Pony Girl, Gulz, Escape Artist Lovers, Nick Zubeck

Put on your makeup and become the one you wish.  Pony Girl sees beyond the performance in the video for their dreamy melancholy single Wannabe.  From backstage to the limelight the protagonist projects a tortured interpretation of their reality, adding some fun in subtle theatrical swings. Laughing, crying, spinning and swaying.

“Why won’t you laugh with me.”  It all builds to a rapturous closing, just as it should.  The Joker in real life.  Be careful what you wish for.  Check it out.

Pony Girl – Wannabe

Where have all the proper rock bands gone?  Rebellious pacts of invincible friends immune to your consultations and unphased by the threat of aging. Bands from better times lived for the moment in a way that modern bands can’t comprehend.

…and so it is that we were drawn to the band Gulz and the antics seen in their charming new video Age of Youth.  Embracing the songs title the band makes good on their mantra in every facet of existence, pillaging both day and night with reckless abandon.  They’re fans, inspired by the source of their energy as much as their penchant for working mans brit pop.  The band embraces the association, offering the institutional lineage of The Libertines and Babyshambles as influence.  We can dig it.  Have a gander.

Escape Artist Lovers drop another shoegaze alternative gem with their recent Follow The Leader.  It’s an eclectic blend with stylistic traces ranging from PJ Harvey to the Pixies and even Pete Yorn.

Effectively produced with shimmering guitar tones and a smooth vocal blend, it’s their passion and energy that adds that extra detail to help them stand out.  That sentiment is on full display within the singles music video.  Do what you love and love what you do.  The video adds some conviction to this captivating blend.  We can dig it.  Check it out.

Parallel experiences intersect in the small town anomily seen in the video for Time Machine, the new single from Nick Zubeck feat. Felicity Williams and Karen NG.  The song is a dreamy eclectic blend of indie folk and indie pop.  The atmospheric accents provided by the tickling interruptive synths, guitars, and horns provide a dreamy essence.  It suits the videos fantastical mystery.

Effectively shot with pro cinematography and notable attention to detail, the video has film fest potential, honoring the academic reverence of this composition.  The narrative, more complicated than it seems and worthy of several telling showings.  See for yourself.
