The intro to body horror is an electrical mirage to the indie folk poetry that follows. The new single from eilonwy is a cinematic journey that wades between two worlds. The one rooted in classic Americana and the other tortured by modern infiltrations. In that way it connects with some of the genre defying works known to Ethel Cain and Weyes Blood, and grants a new audience the expectation that her works are meant to transcend genre.
Released on Halloween, body horror features some haunting production to enhance the spooky sentiment. A dark folk highlight, body horror is steeped in mystery.

Mighty Glad lands iconically nostalgic with the soulful elegance of their new single I Quit Again. Recalling vintage soul champions Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett, this gorgeous musical friendship is yielding magnificent treasures. I Quit Again is a sure thing for NPR Fresh Finds and an audience in need of new soul heroes. It’s got that same authentic feel that lifted Winehouse, Sharon Jones, and Charles Bradley.
For some reason the Universe keeps taking our new soul heroes. Perhaps it’s their tortured nature as they conjure their suffering into their performances on a nightly basis. In that manner I Quit Again is true to form, both in its narrative and in designs. Simply a perfect revival hit. We love it.

Emily Nicole Green caught our attention with her new single Hole In My Heart. This dusty dark dive-bar stomp-and-holler Americana vibe is energizing. It’s the kind of scorn meant to bring a crowd to its feet in relatable revelation.
Gospel and blues both have a stake in this design, altered by chain gang call and response reverence and indie alt country adaptation. There’s a red dirt sensibility that connects with some of the dustier works known to Tyler Childers or Sturgill Simpson. Green adds her own incredible rapid vibrato and conjured hurt to keep this style sacred. Get into it.

South African born singer songwriter Luke Beling recent dropped his full length album A Stone In The Mouth of the Ocean. The picturesque 9 song release features several previously released singles and a few brand new songs. Everything embellishes Beling’s talent as a storyteller, with concepts that reflect some of incredible experiences he’s observed as a world traveller.
It’s heard on songs like To Never See The Light, a song he wrote about a Nepali man he met who was sold into slavery as a child. He writes about life’s challenges, like on the single Ride Suzy Ride where he channels the aura of Springsteen in this musical novella about running from life’s hardships.
Collectively the album’s aura bridges the indie folk appeal of Gregory Alan Isakov with the classic folk feel of John Prine. There’s an indie sensibility in the atmospheric production and stylistic attention. The album is a glorious triumph from this buzzworthy emerging songwriter.
