Best New Synthwave – Bunny X, Sharkett, Blake Harley, Rude Pets

NYC synthwave vixens Bunny X get some added sparkle for their single Daydreaming courtesy of a remix from Cassetter.  Already effectively intoxicating and seductive, Cassetter amplifies the chic dance pop pump, adapting a club mix that honors its retro intention while stretching its pop appeal.

Critical darlings in synthwave, Bunny X is a favorite among in the underground scene while remaining elusive to the masses.  They’re due for a breakout and Daydreaming could be the escape.  Already connecting with fans of synthwave icons like NINA and KRISTINE, the remix could equally bring them fans of DUA LIPA or Midnight Swiftie castaways.  Dig in.

There’s an emotive sensibility at the onset of High Line, the new single from Sharkett.  It offers a nostalgic reverence with cinematic inference.  It recalls 80s pops sentimental brilliance, how it triggers your imaginative dream state and thrusts you into a montage of memory.

High Line evolves with progressive thrill, as the drum beat dips in and out playfully.  It offers interpretive breakouts with every emphatic drop.  Stylistically it recalls some of the collaborative works known to synthwave cult heroes Retroglyphs with some added mainstream synth pop appeal known to CHVRCHES.

Blake Harley blends energetic retro pop wave and a dark melodic sensibility elegantly on their new single Linger On.  This is how we imagine the Maniac soundtrack might have sounded if it was produced by Kate Bush.  We love this moody vibe within an upbeat construct, its infectious contrast we won’t soon grow tired off.

Linger On inspires you to dance vigorously and with conviction.  It’s fun in how it releases you but it doesn’t have to be playful.  Emphasis on ‘doesn’t have to’.  But it can.  It’s quite adaptive in that manner.  It’s a complexity we adore.  Hear for yourself.

Rude Pets drop a dark erotic smash with their new single Better Than Holding You.  A blend of industrial synth pop and sex appeal recalls the legacy of NIN.  Rude Pets inject an added retro element and emotive new wave influenced vocal.

Eletro pop that would appeal to a retro pop audience, Rude Pets pushes the influence of the 80s forward with a string of recent releases earning them buzz attention. Hear for yourself.
