A new holiday Bluegrass classic gets a proper Americana tribute from Cincinatti based duo Stone & Snow. There’s an authenticity that shines from their version of This December. The musical performance sways with an organic reverence known to tried players. They play within each other elegantly, never stepping on toes or hanging around a lick too long.
Karen Bridges offers a convincing vocal performance, embracing the narrative and its call for communal peace. Stylistically it connects with the works of Brandi Carlile or the Civil Wars.

The lofi chill wave updated holiday catalog gets another standout from none other than Pretty, Handsome. The single is simply titled The Holiday Song, and it’s clever in how it stylistically references an island getaway vibe. We also hear evidence of trip hop producers like Thievery Corporation and some of the urban soul appeal akin to Joss Stone.
The Holiday Song is double dipped in vibe and slightly trimmed with a jazz bred sensibility, one that prefers a modern lofi groove palette. We can dig it.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas finds its retro lofi aesthetic on the new version from carolesdaughter. The song has never sounded so haunting, but in a way that oddly exhilarating. It’s a testament to how they’ve injected intriguing melodic dissonance.
The chord changes are innovative and dare we say genius. If it wasn’t a Christmas song it would still be spectacular. Even more of a reason to check out carolesdaughter. Stylistically it brings the world of artists like Sir Chloe into the contemporary holiday space. We adore it.

“This year seems to be the worst, the worst year these eyes have seen. Maybe it could be a curse, like a recurring bad dream. I’m just thankful to be alive every day that I survive, it feels like it’s Christmas Day.”
JD Casper flips the narrative on holiday songs, reflecting the insanity of how we put so much stock in its restitution while the rest of our life swirls in emotional chaos. He blesses this anthem with an alt country angst and poetic indie sensibility that could draw similarities to Dawes or The Revivalists. “I Feel like it’s Christmas Day, each time I wake up here alive. I don’t know how long I’ll stay, but I hope its for a while.” Let the holidays deliver you, but embrace all of it for as long as you can.
