Elizabeth Moen honors Blue Christmas with an elegant inspired live take on this iconic classic. Recorded live as part of her Salt Lick Sessions, she brings her own trademark quivering vibrato and convincing twang to this treasured Holiday standard. It’s sultry and intoxicating.
Her voice has an intimidating affect, its a testament to her strength and conjured attitude. Moen has a unique touch, but it’s fair to chart this style between the realms of Amy Winehouse and Rachael Price from Lake Street Dive. Hear for yourself.

Two of our underground indie folk favorites have blessed us with a new holiday classic simply titled Christmas Song. The new single from Will Knox features his friend and indie folk stand out néomí . Together they are bringing an updated indie folk influence to your holiday collection.
Stylistically we hear similiarities to Damien Rice with some of the added troubadour melancholy flavor known to Gregory Alan Isakov. In tangent with their catalogs it’s more of an introspective release, more dedicated to the heart of the matter than its sentimental fluff. We like that too.

If you’re going to do a groovy take on a pseudo holiday classic you can’t do much better than Groove of the Sugar Plum Fairy, the new single from Johnny Kasun. The recording artist takes this Igor Tchaikovsky classic and injects modes of funk and jazz impressively. The tight performance and daft recording recall the recent works of cult icons Vulfpeck. The single is just one piece of an expansive holiday release in this style, called Mista Christmas. Dig in!

Tom Freund lends his classic contemplative touch to the holiday season with his new single What’s Up Christmas Stocking. There’s something very New York about this vibe. It recalls writers like Neil Diamond and Leonard Cohen in its genuine presentation and how it divulges the details. It sees both sides of the story, the parts that make it joyful and the sincere ironies we can’t escape.
Freund’s Christmas Stocking arrives like a timely savior, like a reflective cushion resting at rock bottom, there every year to snap you back for one more emotionally complex journey around the sun. Beautifully produced with layers of orchestration and gorgeous musicianship, What’s Up Christmas Stocking has an old soul.
