Music Videos We Love – The Northern Folk, Brimheim, Prism B!tch, Islands

The Northern Folk honor the dreamy indie folk brilliance of their single Thank God with an inspired music video.  There’s no schtick here and it works.  The video features a subtle narrative, but most importantly it offers each member a chance to stand in the limelight.  It embraces every contribution while baring evidence of community and mutual respect in a way that makes you want to see them live.  After all, that’s what it’s about.  Go see them in concert.  Looks freakin’ amazing.  See for yourself.

We’re big fans of the breakout single from BrimheimBrand New Woman (feat. eee gee) is delectable indie pop.  It’s making our best of year end list.  Stylistically she brings her own bizarre essence to an update a vibe familiar to Sharon Van Etten and Florence Welsh.

The video adds to her rare aura and offers some context to the songs narrative.  It’s a combination of chic and bizarre much like the artist herself.  Along with the feature from eee gee they bring an all star performance fit for Hollywood.  Do not try to domesticate this person.  Careful with that chainsaw friends.  Check it out.

Prism B!tch goes all in for the video for their single City Nights.  The video effectively mirrors their aesthetic.  Their amplified eccentric retro nostalgia deserves some cheeky comedy.  Their playfulness is infectious.

For us it’s incredibly fun in the same ways audiences are drawn to projects like Chromeo.  It doesn’t take itself too seriously but the musicianship is on point.  From the setting to the costumery, City Nights will make you a fan.  Dig in.

Cleanse your soul within the feel good vibe seen on Headlines, the new video for the single from Canadien indie pop project Islands.  There’s a lot to love within this yolo breakthrough, as the artist takes life by the tail in a way that might concern his inner circle.

Retro car washes never looked so fresh, like a night club bubble party for one on steroids.  Director Vali Chandraesekaran is no stranger to funny, having written for notable shows like 30 Rock and Modern Family.  Love those shows?  We do too.  Just press play.
