Women of Trip Hop – vampireluvr, The Tame and the Wild, XA’LUM, snghs,

We were entranced by The Devil, the new single from vampureluvr.  The singer certainly has her own trademark delivery, but fair occasional similarities to Florence Welsh suggest how the iconic singer might sound in a dark abstract pop design.  The result is simply thrilling, as vampireluvr drags you into the depths of this siren song, seducing you with the hypnotic rhythm as it pumps beneath her vibrant quivering vibrato.

There’s a sinister sex appeal courtesy of the dark lyrical nature.  Stylistically it presents abstract but undeniably catchy in a way that also reminds us of the band Polica.  We can dig it.

The Tame and the Wild – Save Our Daughters

The Tame and the Wild offer a cinematic vibe from the opening moments of their new single Save Our Daughters.  The song evolves like a feminine anthem.  The production elements cite traditional music in a way that references history and the role women have played as well as the hardships they’ve endured.

The lyrics touch on themes both past and present, calling for women to unite beyond the boundaries of their nations, to seek a higher calling and to repel the forever folly of man. At a time when women play to their indulgences for personal benefit the artist begs for all to look at the big picture.  The production honors the significance, as a gothic style choir amplifies the brevity of this message.  It’s a great vibe and a glorious vocal performance.  More than anything, this is an important work. Hear for yourself.

XA’LUM – Dies Sanguinis

Lose yourself to the imaginative journey inspired by Dies Sanguines, the new single from Xa’lum.  The Spanish export breaks the language barrier.  Her emotional and melodic prowess says more than most words can.  The expressive beat beneath the arrangements atmospheric design gives the song a rare aura.

It’s both abstract and hauntingly beautiful, as if it comes from some ghostly wisdom, one that sees through our standardized constructs.  In that way it reflects the experimental works of artists like FKA Twigs and Sevdaliza.  Inspired by nature, Xa’lum embraces a metaphysical musical mantra.

snghs – I Won’t come back

There’s an exotic mystique that permeates from I Won’t come back, the new single from snghs ft Ariana Calinao.  The singers rich accent adds to the reference, as she leans into the emotional affect of her performance.  The lyrics add an empowered self worth to the narrative, one that knows its desire will find pleasure in another.  The production blends a cinematic synth sonic touch akin to Vangelis with the dark pop punch of Massive Attack.  We simply love it.
