On the outset Astral Bakers video for their single Beautiful Everything feels like a clever low budget concept that offers them some necessary content courtesy of a Sidereal Session. On the outset…
Something about this revolving car camera just hits different. The images and performances shine like introspective portraits. They amplify the bands authenticity and genuine passion for their craft. It’s a killer tune too. Both catchy and clever, we think it connects with a large scope of indie fans. From Big Thief to Real Estate, fans of the indie underground will adore Beautiful Everything. Hear for our yourself.
We were inspired by the video for How Good, the new single from Donovan Woods. An uplifting indie folk anthem in its own right, the vibe is lifted by an incredible music video narrative. This gorgeous story finds the artist as a costar to the experience of its main character. Bowaine Ma shines as the optimal modern human, one who lives the mantra of carpe diem beautifully.
There’s a lot to unpack within this experience, but what struck us most was the diversity of this experience. Ma splits her time between acts of service, responsibility, and joy. There’s a lot to explore in this modern world, if you know how to give yourself to it. The world is your oyster, and though your environmental constraints may appear limited, there’s a way around it, you just have to be willing to go for it. Go for it. Follow Bowaine Ma’s journey here:
There’s something about wintery cinematography and how it warps our perception of these desolate settings. Filmed in the shade these places look hopeless, but beneath a glimmering sun they sparkle with brilliant warmth. Alana Yorke embraces the latter in the video for her single Marion.
The video might inspire a wintery escapade as you look to capture this wonder in your own life. Amplified by the breathtaking modern dance with impressive choreography by Kerri Heslop, the video captures Yorke’s spiritual essence elegantly. Directed by Annika Gale, the video is a smash. The song is equally immersive and blessed with a gorgeous arrangement featuring The Dream Magic Orchestra. Eyes wide closed. See within.
From the imaginative choreography to the iconic hotel setting, Matt-Felix reinvigorates the music video for his new single Leave, Just To Stay. Gorgeously produced, the project spared no expense on this Hollywood style production. Impeccable costumery and incredible performances by all involved illuminate the songs perplexing narrative, one that finds the protagonist in his own Kubrick style alternative dimension. The songs a jam too. We hear elements of Spoon and classic Coldplay. Shot at the historic Rivoli Ballroom in South East London, the video cites a bygone era so effectively, it’ll challenge your conception of historical exquisite. Check it out.
Tamar Berk flips the narrative in the video for her single permanent vacation. This dystopian martian finds themself trapped in the throes of modern convention. What better way to assimilate to your new worldly prison than to experience the horror that is grocery shopping. Stylistically the song is seeped in a 90s era alternative punk vibe similar to Liz Phair or more recently Snail Mail. The cheeky narrative honors the songs punk power pop contrast.
The song rules, but the very real idea of permanent vacation kind of sucks when you think about it. There’s something deep happening here and you might miss it. As she wades into the water in those final moments the beauty is picturesque but the void within overshadows the remarkability. For us it screams “be careful what you wish for” What do you see? Dig in.
