Retro Pop Revival – Heartracer, Magenta Dusk, Pa-Pa, Rain Carnation

Heartracer elegantly finds the middle ground between gold record pop and moody new wave on their new single Through The Motions.  A retro melodic sensibility get a modern update courtesy of a punchy, bright mix.  It reflects a synthwave aesthetic in a less underground manner, one that offers the song real time commercial success.  In that way its blends the realms of Passion Pit and FM-84 or The Midnight.  It’s a testament to the songs sonic precision and creative composition.  Everything is in its right place on this phenomenal single.

Magenta Dusk – Close to Never

The first thing that drew us into Close To Never is the unorthodox way they utilize the saxophone in the opening segment.  It’s more of a texture than a passion fueled substitute for vocals.  The new single from Magenta Dusk keeps the legacy of synthwave moving forward, citing an influence of originators like Electric Youth in conjunction with newer genre stand outs like The Midnight.  Its a testament to the convincing female lead voice featured by the emerging retro Uk based producer Magenta Dusk.  The song is a slam dunk.  Check it out.

Pa-Pa – Liminal Pop Up Shop

The concept of retrofuturism reaches a fever pitch on Liminal pop up shop, the new single from Pa-Pa.  Combining aspects of dance electronica in the synthwave canon, Pa-Pa paves fresh trails within the dialect of wave.  Incredibly catchy and sonically entrancing, we haven’t heard an electronic/synthwave mashup this convincing since the Fear of Tigers hit Boy Talk.  That’s high praise.  Don’t skip this.
