Music Videos We Love – Andrea & Mud, Joh Chase, Um Jennifer, Ray Barbee

The low down and dirty legacy of country gets a proper revival on This Time, the new single from Andrea & Mud.  An effective slow burning serenade, the song gets a visual enhancement courtesy of an intriguing music video companion. The bar feel like a lonesome wasteland, like some sick cycle purgatory.  It’s dreary in a way that illuminates the vibe and visually spectacular in its use of shadow and darkness.  Dig in.

Joh Chase embraces their swagger within the interpretive dance seen in the video for their new single Gone. The punchy rhythmic jive and syncopated riff recall the cool kid influence of Velvet Underground or T Rex, updated with a modern indie sensibility on this groovy stand out.  On the video Joh Chase seems inspired in a way thats invigorating, subsequently offering a sort of guidebook on how the musics supposed to make you feel.  Post video, the jam just hits different.  Get in it.

That regrettable toxic ex full of unpleasant surprises gets a proper tribute on Glamour Girl the new single from Um, Jennifer.  The eccentric insanity shines in the songs music video.  It’s a catchy jam in the spirit of Bikini Kill or Spirit of the Beehive, and the video amplifies the groups bizarre tendencies.  The video is whacky, but effective as a calling card to see this group live.  They seem like a great time, unlike the real glamour girl, who sounds like a hot mess.  You decide.

Um, Jennifer – Glamour Girl

Expect the unexpected.  Ray Barbee makes a guitar made from cardboard sound like a vintage gem.  This poetic jam challenges your expectations on how far we might be able to push renewable and recycled resources.  The sky’s the limit.  Barber’s got a nice touch too, channeling the like of Gilmour and Jeff Beck with his silky smooth blues inspired flow.  Check it out.
