Music Videos We Love – Pink Beds, Geographer, Meli Levi, Combine the Victorious

From the neon color scheme to the suggestive narrative, everything is in its right place in the video for The Word (DANCE), the new single from Pink Beds.  The music at its essence elegantly blends the auras of 80s nostalgia, modern minimalistic disco inspired dance pop, and a classic crooner era vocal style.  We think it fits in with buzz bands like Brigitte Calls Me Baby.

Pink Beds adds to the allure with a stylistic video that showcases an appetite for the underground.  It’s assertive in a way that amplifies their intentions, with some quirkiness to add to the approachability.  The night is young and our souls are meant to dance.  Check it out.

Geographer strikes us as a multidimensional gem with the release of his video Got It Wrong.  More than just the music, Geographer has floored us with a string of video releases that showcase their ability as a performer and dancer.

Choreographed and staged elegantly, these one man show motifs are seen from a single shot perspective, no easy feat in the world of film.  Geographer certainly makes it looks easy.  Beyond the technical skills there’s a calculated narrative, a visual poetry that suggests how nothing’s sacred anymore in the world of art. New social conundrums resort us all into the realm of novelty. Did we get it wrong?  Reconnect with what matters on this visual gem.

Meli Levi is convincing in the video for their single Echo in a Valley.  A killer jam that recalls 90s alternative acts like Jeff Buckley, Meli Levi finds a rare nostalgic aura less travelled in the world of modern throwbacks.  There’s a swagger to the live performance in the video that gives their show some nice hype.  The band is tight too, with the drummer bringing some trademark snap.  We know we’re not the only ones hoping for this kind of sonic reflection, have a listen.

Noir chrome pierced by violent light illuminates the chic nostalgic vibe of Danser tout le temps, the new video and single from Combine The Victorious.  The inspired performance full of attitude and rhythmic pump thrives with conviction.  There’s an authenticity seeping from every facet of this immaculate moment, as the essence of this style seeps from every orifice in this room.

Perhaps you’re not yet hip to life’s second movement, but silver foxes still feel young and fun in jest of your ignorant assumptions.  Combine the Victorious also give it better than most local basement bands, we wish we were there.  Dig in.
