Music Videos We Love – Mantaray, Laura J Martin, Globus x A.D.A.M., brother bird

In the video for their single Her Eyes, Finnish rockers Mantaray match their dreamy sonic penchant with tight simple natural shots full of texture and natural movement.  Whether it be the ripple of the water or the sand blowing off the landscape, Director Ville Mäkeläinen says a lot within the elegant framework of his camera.

It honors the bands blend of minimalistic and abstract.  The arrangement layers are honest but everything contribution on Her Eyes is significant, much like every shot in this glorious video.  We hear a fair influence of Radiohead and Sigur Ros in a way thats honorable and accelerates that affect forward.  High praise for this Finnish buzz band.  Check it out.

Slow pondering cinema tells a bigger story.  Most recently the world struggles to grapple with the impact of the Oscar winning movie Zone of Interest.  We see a bit of that style as well as the influence of Kubrick in the aura of Prepared, the video for the single from Laura J Martin

A gorgeous imaginative composition deserves such an effective video.  It’s fair to compare the artist to the brilliance of Cate Le Bon or Kate Bush.  The new single also recalls the more cinematic singles known to The Wall.  So obviously we love it.  You will too.  What does it all mean?  Check it out.

Some like it darker.  It’s the last iconic sentiment offered by Cohen, and a statement that permeates through the aura of On The Run, the new song and incredible video from Globus x A.D.A.M.  Both the video and the song are epic and vicious, erupting violently in the final moments.  It’s the final payoff to the cinematic build they use to get you there.  Beyond the song is an intriguing collaboration seeped in elegant contrast.  Enjoy.

Once again brother bird catches our attention, this time with their new single quitter.  Melodically expressive and bolstered by crisp tones full of texture and vitality, quitter effectively bridges the works of Andrew Bird, Feist, and Beirut.  Creator Jez Pennington honors that art pop reference with a Warhol worthy illustrated music video companion.  We simply adore it.
