Best New Indie – Matched, april june, Jarki Monno, Kid Tigrrr

We dig the blend of dreamy and cool kid jive permeating from Saving Face, the new single from Matched.  The guitar first arrangement offers some nostalgic reference, while the indie influence adapts that inspiration modern.

In that way Matched bridges the gap between The Cranberries and The Breeders with modern Indies like Alvvays and Soccer Mommy.  Like all of them  Matched is inherently catchy and incredibly easy to listen to.  They also offer you the choice to bliss out within their dreamy aesthetic or cut loose to their sneaky explosiveness.  We like it both ways.

April June – Starstruck

We fell for the flirtatious narrative heard on starstruck, the new single from april june.  The lyrics get a lift from an inspired performance, one thats meant to melt you within the hypnotic trance of the melody.

The voice exemplifies a feeling.  There’s a serenity to this young romance.  It’s like a grace period in song, reminding you of those first few infatuated days where the relationship is absolutely perfect.  It’s a great composition too, with an interesting arrangement that ponders in tandem with the inquiring narrative.  Stylistically it’s a sure thing for fans of Clairo and Boy Genius.  We simply love it.

Jarki Monno – Charli

Damn that’s catchy.  That was our immediate reaction to the infectious brilliance that is Charlie, the new single from Jarki Monno.  We dig this kind of smart pop, and we accept that for some of our listeners it might be too pop.  But for the open minded musically conscious listener, Charlie is undeniable.

Monno is expansive in his melodic exploration.  It adds a candid cinematic feel.  The vibe is sure to draw fair comparisons to The 1975 and their breakthrough Somebody Else.  That’s cool by us, we freakin love that song.

Soak into the dreamy escape that is Dinosaur, the new single from Kid Tigrrr.  The first sections clever dynamic beat adds enough pump to offer this psychedelic trance some fluid motion.  It begs you to sway suggestively before arriving in full on the convincing chorus drop.

The arrangement is effective and honors the intoxicating vocal performance you’ll likely return for.  The singer can adapt too.  There’s an angst to her melancholy.  We simple adore it.  Stylistically it connects with Beach House, Cigarettes After Sex, and beabadoobee.
