Music Videos We Love – Forever Searching, Flower Face, Mahogany, Lynn Koch -Emmery

Forever Searching caught our attention with the haunting visual portraits that make up their new video I Don’t Think I Love You Anymore.  Every scene is like its own art installation.  There’s a creepy connection that adds beautiful contrast when paired with the song.

Stylistically it bridges an influence of mid career psychedelic Beatles with the sonic nature of Tame Impala or Unknown Mortal Orchestra and the writing of Elliot Smith.  We also see a visual element that recalls the work of David Lynch.  It’s genuinely that good.

Flower Face makes rad music videos.  We were all in on her previous Cat’s Cradle, and we’re equally smitten for Valentine.  Incredibly dark and elusive in its narrative, Valentine bears some complicated feelings.

The video’s a vibe and the songs a dreamy indie folk gem.  One things for certain, Flower Face is a star.  Stylistically this is a sure thing for fans of Weyes Blood and Ethel Cain.  It has that kind of striking creative brilliance and dark underlying narrative.  Both videos play on an obsession complex intriguingly.  Turn it up and engulf yourself in this gorgeous immersive string arrangement.  Epic.

Mahogany stands alone on their expressive new single A Scaffold.  If music were colors this would be a kaleidoscope.  There’s a shimmering atmospheric underlayer that feels alive.  The video mirrors that aura of illuminated reality.

Aiding the bright white light are creative camera cuts and flashes of stop and go animation.  It’s a gorgeous blend of the two aesthetics, like one cohesive art piece.  For us it blends the worlds of The Talking Heads and Animal Collective.  See for yourself.

Linn Koch-Emmery is an underground rock and roll angel in the video for her new single Borderline Iconic.  She embraces the songs title on this enthusiastic performance.  For us, the intrusive mics that surround her reflect a modern post event media interview.  It’s a neat detail unique to her, and just one of many reasons why we love this.

Most importantly, her rock and roll heart shines thru in this emphatic performance.  With every whiplash of her hair and attitude filled lean our hearts grow fonder.  Her voice is neat too, like a female Pete Yorn.  Check it out.
