Music Videos We Love – Mo Troper, &Tilly, Astari Nite, zinha

We were charmed by the nostalgic brilliance of Billy Joel Fan Club, the new single from Mo Troper.  In the video, the artist poignantly strolls Hollywood Blvd, drawing in a swarm of idiot apostles all dancing in jive with the songs infectious groove.  It culminates with the application of a rose on the singers sidewalk star as the video closes with a faux tribute inciting that Joel passes away this year.  Hopefully it does not come to pass, but for the sake of this art piece it’s the final genius touch to a brilliant work.

The track cites an influence of The Beach Boys with the stylistic touch that launched projects like Dr Dog and BC Camplight.  We adore it.  Jump in.

Mo Troper – Billy Joel Fan Club

We love the multidimensional brilliance that &Tilly brings to their project.  Their penchant for 90s influenced trip hop and dream pop is effectively reflected in the music videos for their works.  The sentiment rings true in the recent video for their songs Thieves.

There’s a dark tension that resonates within the urban portrait of their lead singer.  Her haunting hush delivery enhances the affect, as she warps a catchy pseudo pop progression with her voices ghostly presence.  The dark cinematography cites movies like Eyes Wide Shut and Requiem, a comparison we’ve dropped on them before.  We’re into it.  Check it out.

&Tilly – Thieves

A spectrum of nostalgia converges convincingly in the single and then in the video for Tongue Tied Galore by the band Astari Nite.  At its core it reflects how Bowie inspired Post Punk bands like Joy Division.

The bands dark tendencies find bright contrast in the videos sharp cinematography.  It clashes with their vampire gothic presence, but it works in connecting them to the nostalgic videos known to the early nineties bands that adapted founded this influence and blended it with shoegaze.

Step into the world of zinha in the music video for her single why did you make me wait?  The singer channel a relatable moment with an array of homemade shots that elegantly capture her journey as a modern musicpreneur.

From travels to busks to coordinated performance vids, the hustle and bustle of the modern musician is on full display. Maybe she’s yearning for an industry savior, but from our perspective she’s got it all figured out.  See for yourself.
