Hip Hop Discovery -Rahseed Defoe, DYLAN OWEN, Yoshi T. , Quantacious

Swedish based MC Rahseed Defoe caught our attention with their exciting new single Do The Right Thing.  This classic gangsta vibe flows between the influence of Cypress Hill, De La Soul, and Method Man.  They cite their influences while simultaneously connecting with recent releases by Run The Jewels and The Roots.

It’s a classic rap sound with a nostalgic beat that reigns authentic.  Defoe himself has classic swagger and an inclination towards iconic hooks like the aforementioned Method Man. Do The Right Thing is a brilliant old school throwback.

Dylan Owen – Mom’s Basement 2007

“This is for the younger me…”. It’s the opening statement that sets the foundation for Mom’s Basement 2007, the new single from Dylan Owen.  What follows is an exciting passage that feels like a poetic outtake from the artist’s diary.  It’s refreshing in its honesty and in the details it references on this rare upbeat anthem.  It’s damn catchy and has trademark potential.  Stylistically it connects with artists like Jack Harlow and Macklemore.

Yoshi T. – Boss Coffee

We’re digging the catchy infectious vibe heard on BOSS COFFEE, the new single from Yoshi T.  The title suits the affect, as rapid lucid realizations drop furiously.  The beat cites classic soul while the lyrics show an appreciation for modern innovators in the game.  In that way it recalls the work of Mac Miller and Earl Sweatshirt.

Quantacious drops an epic throwback on their fresh new single Flow.  The legacy of boom bap and turn of the century gangsta rap shines on this inspired release.

Its a vibe you can trace back to the influence of Wu-Tang, an influence the artist doesn’t shy away from as they cite their allegiance to Shaolin and sample sword sounds within the beat.  It’s worthy of the association, much like the masters of Wu our man Quantacious has a flow full of musicality and infectious cadence.
