An influence of indie pop, Bossa nova, and a Hawaii upbringing blend elegantly on Another Sundown. The new single from Eli Smart is a vibe. From the first soft prompts of the ticking percussion Another Sundown immediately gets under your skin. The musical textures throughout are full of vibrant tempered spirit. It’s a contained excitability, managed so you can give more of yourself to the moment.
The composition is spirited too. Smart is just that, an intelligent thoughtful songwriter who doesn’t deny his upbringing. He finds a way to meld it into his presumed indie influences. We hear hints of Ben Howard and Leon Bridges. It’s an eclectic blend that lands refreshing.

We were hooked from the first trademark line of Thanks for Being Nice to Me, the new single from mlady. Her voices slight quiver has an intoxicating affect. It offers immediate authenticity to the emotion she bring to that first line, and on this landmark performance her truth never falters.
As the arrangement evolves the band lifts in tandem with the storyline. It’s incredibly cinematic and thrusted further into its visual variable courtesy of the unexpected electro beat in the bridge. It’s gloriously eclectic and somehow finds the middle ground between Big Thief, Phoebe Bridgers, and Billie Eilish. So cool.

SANDY and Golda May strike fortune with their new single Lightweights. Gorgeous imaginative production layers add to the cinematic reverence offered by this inspired vocal performance. The composition has delectable surprise, adding to the drama of the moment and responding elegantly to unexpected lyrical cues.
The arrangement gloriously blends the indie folk foundation into an expressive modern electro indie pop masterpiece. It’s an enviable studio effort. Stylistically its a sure thing for fans of Clairo and Bon Iver. We love it.

There’s a new Julia in town and she’s got the attention of songwriter Boy Ferguson. What’s old is new again on this inspired release. The project finds new sonic realms to a nostalgic canon familiar to the writing of Springsteen or Warren Zevon. More recently we also hear the spirit of Low Cut Connie.
It’s a sense of salvation, accented by a vintage rock spirit brave enough to return the scene back to its Americana roots. But it doesn’t deny the good ideas recent innovations have brought, with some indie influence shown in the progressive surprise and sonic fury fit to melt your face. It’s like The Band produced by Sonic Youth. We can dig it.
