Oh damn that’s fresh. From the very first vocal drop we found ourselves entranced by the relaxed candid delivery heard on HONEY I’D CATCH YOU WHERE YOU ARE.
The new single from Heran Dawson and Zenny Fermin is ripe with lusty vulnerability. If finds the middle ground between Frank Ocean and Prince, with some of the undeniable minimalistic pump familiar to Daft Punk and a compositional sensibility that echoes synthwave trailblazer Kavinsky. It’s addictive.

Madeline Goldstein finds her anthem with her new single 1996 Expectations. The first single off of her upcoming full length gloriously blends the realms of retro pop and gothic dark wave. It’s as if Madonna lent herself to the dark arts and an influence of gothic industrial.
Goldstein’s voice pierces the dense production like a curious siren. It’s full of desire while basking in cautious mystery. The metallic percussive synths out of the first vocal section conjure an interpretive dance as you imagine Goldstein’s hypnotic presence drawing you deeper into the dark unknown. It’s the optimal track to send a fun night into questionable realms.

The American English caught our attention with their new release Velvet Lotus. We’ve should’ve known that voice from a mile away. The project features none other than Ollie Wride. Known for his iconic releases with synthwave icons FM-84, for us he is the premier retro pop vocalist. It’s no wonder that Velvet Lotus is an emotive catchy retro smokeshow.
The infectious magnetic drop erupts out of the intro with revelatory surprise. It’s gloriously unpredictable and refreshingly anthemic. Stylistically they bridge a gap between MJ, the 1975, and Imagine Dragons. It’s a glorious mix of past and present in a way that should please retro pop and modern pop fans alike.

There are cheap versions of AI, but we are not mad about these trippy forever evolving videos. The affect works magnificently on the cinematic trip that is Homebound, the new single from BUOS.
The single is an interstellar journey, one that reconnects retro pop with its sci-fi roots. The revolving synths stir a visual narrative as you fill in the blanks of this imaginative script. The video helps to propel the sober hallucinations. Perhaps some herbal support might helps accelerate the moment. However you dig it, we’re into it.
