Best New Synthwave – Hackitt, REIN, Bending Grid

We like different and Hackitt gave us exactly that.  Their new single Echos is carried by an expressive imaginative retro inspired design.

The vocal matches the sentiment, bringing some Johnny Rotten aggressiveness back to the realm of experimental new wave.  In that way it reflects an influence of Public Image ltd with an added Cure style trait of moody melodica.  We’re into it.

Hear Echos now on our Best New Synthwave Playlist.

It’s the spooky season and new realms of electro pop are our sexual spirit animal.  REIN is worthy of the association.  Their new single poignantly asks How’s It Gonna Be?

Paired with the music video, you can’t help but be drawn to the videos androgynous star.  Her voice is silky smooth too.  Stylistically it recalls projects like Christine and The Queens, but with an added retro electro edge.  Get sucked in.

We love what’s happening with Synthwave icons Bending Grid and the new release The Beast That Follows.  In the spirit of the genre the single comes with a few incredible remix versions.  We’re enamored with the catchy pump in the version offered by Neologisticism.  The song also features. Bending Grid and By Forever.

We also dig the more emotive retrospective version offered by Aisle 9.

The production quality overall is top notch, and the accompanying IG videos used to promote the releases just add to the overall epic appeal.  This is a great one.  Find your favorite Beast
