Vermont’s favorite synthwave export is back and they’re paying tribute to the iconic Dune. To know Night Protocol is to love them. The Burlington based project is known for inviting national acts to grace their sacred city, gracing them with hospitality and honoring their arrival with memorable parties. It’s the kind of scene every community envies. Go to Vermont and see what they’re about!
Go deeper into their world with their recent single Mindkiller. The expansive release kicks off with an extended intro. It’s the proper setup for lead singer Amanda’s hypnotic vocals. Between her voice and an array of sonic treats throughout, it’s easy to get lost in the vibe. The tasteful Dune references hit home too. The book series is a giant in the world of sci fi, and we think the recent films offer the best interpretation yet. It’s only right that Dune gets some proper synthwave style themed bangers. Stylistically Night Protol finds an effective balance between electro and vocal based synthwave. Enjoy it!

We were drawn into the magnetic catchy energy heard on Purple Haze, the new single from TAKNADO. The aggressive persistence of the snare drum beneath the churn of the waving synth creates a unique tension. The singers dramatic timbre settles beneath the influence of post punk and gothic. It’s glorious contrast, and just one flavor from the bands growing catalog.
We were also into their collaboration with Karpovich on the song Na Zare. It’s an effective dark pop vibe with a nostalgic aura in the spirit of Depeche Mode. Their native tongue only adds the exotic eroticism. Check it out.

In the international synthwave scene it’s all about community, not commodity. The designation fits the bill in regards to the new release As The Days Go By.
The song features a dynamic collaboration between Shades of Thunder and Chris Magerl. Shades of Thunder is in fact a collaboration at its essence between synthwave stalwarts Edictum and Powernerd. Together they bring versatility to the synthwave dialect, injecting a subtle alternative influence in the spirit of NIN on the new single. It’s killer.

We love the recent trend when artists release a single along with several dynamic remixes of the song. The strategy was recently employed by Bending Grid and The Safety Word for their song Aeons End, and somehow every version slaps.
Whether it’s the vivacious dramatic wave pop remix by Timewalker AD, or the sci fi cinematic cyber version dropped by Manhattan; it conjures vibrant futuristic visions. Aeon’s End has that kind of virtual soundtrack sensibility, with your mind as the interpretive Motherboard. The original is killer too, slightly cleaner in its blend than the remixed versions, and equally dramatic. We love all of it.
