Retro Pop Revival – Bending Grid w/ Jolie & Ace Buchannon, Marble Raft

Bending Grid is getting a lot of things right.  The emerging synthwave heavyweight knows how to bring a proper collab.  Their touch is so sweet, they’ve even managed a convincing cover of Blinding Lights in a collaboration with Jolie that challenges the original.  Featuring an effective female vocal interpretation, we can say without hesitance that we prefer this to the original.  Whereas The Weeknd’s version emulated a poser, this gives the song a true synthwave feel.

We also love his most recent collaboration with Ace Buchannon on the new single Come Alive.  A lush sensual retro pop banger, Come Alive has all the infectious familiar to FM84 with a proper female mega vocal meant for the big time.  The song comes with a more aggressive remix version too.  Depending on your mood they’re going to get the job done!

Great things are happening for Bending Grid.  Dig into these gems now on our Best New Synthwave Playlist.

Psych pop and new wave converge convincingly on To Have and to Hold and to Break, the new single from Marble Raft.  This is our kind of indie, it wears an array of influences that span several decades.  The new single is undisputedly rooted in 80s alternative, but it also owes some inspiration to modern modes of indie rock.  Stylistically we hear a bit of Human League, New Order, and Echo & The Bunneymen.  Get lost in it.

Marble Raft are featured on our Best New Synthwave New Wave Playlist.
