There’s a youthful essence to Crocodile Tears, the new single from Ellis King. It thrives in jest of the heartbreak that inspired this narrative. It resonates with that experiences complicated construct. To live you’ve got to get hurt a bit. Shedding that innocence can loosen the pressure of expectation. It deserves such an exuberant anthem as this.
For ellis king it could be her defining moment. She gifts a landmark performance that could make her a household name. It’s got that kind of magnetism. Stylistically we think it connects with artists like Phoebe Bridgers and the Boy Genius adjacent projects.

Toronto based lofi indie pop project cleopatrick is releasing a new album in March. To commemorate the announcement they’ve release a new single called PLEASE.
It’s an eclectic blend, where an alt folk acoustic grunge guitar progressio churns intriguingly beneath the abstract indie inspired falsetto vocal. In that manner they find the middle ground between Bon Iver and Nirvana. We also think it’s a sure thing for fans of Clairo and Frank Ocean. We find it intoxicating.

NORA finds fresh nostalgia to bless their new single All That I Can Do. The melodic sensibility tags the 80s intriguingly. It has its stake in both post punk and new wave pop. The vocal design recalls the slap delay chain known to Prince, and they embrace the icons attitude and timbre to amplify the association.
It’s all a mirage as it evolves into the songs dreamy mid song break. All That I Can Do is a glorious art piece that will stimulate indie and art pop fans equally. We think it connects with projects like Steve Lacy and Francis and the Lights.

Psych pop gets back to its mellow funky soulful 70s roots on Lemongrass City, the new single from Bubble Tea and Cigarettes. The singer is exotic and seductive as she forces the notes through a sultry whisper. It collides into a Gilberto style duet, as the relaxed presence of her male counterpart amplifies the chic erotic tension.
Beautifully produced, the new single features a complex orchestrated arrangement. At its core a James Jamerson style bass line charts the melodic depth as waves of leads and atmosphere color the sonic landscape. Altogether it’s a gem, and a sure thing for fans of Beach House and Rhye.
