Best New Indie – Kylie Rothfield, Kirsten Izer, The Flints, Few Bits

We got lost in the addictive nostalgia of Temporary, the new single from Kylie Rothfield.  The breakthrough former Voice contestant illuminates indie pop 80s alternative influence on this infectious release.

Shedding the commercial cuffs Rothfield shows she’s still got one foot in the underground.  In tandem with her advancing legacy she offers a gold standard vocal performance, blessing this Sam Fender style vibe with her magnificent talent.  We’re big fans!

Kirsten Izer might want to know more about You.  Maybe.  It’s a cautionary allure.  Izer knows to be careful what you wish for.  There’s a seductive trait masking her obsessed conflict.  That detail comes to a fever pitch in the songs convincing trademark chorus.  It’s in this moment that the emotion takes over.  Is this real life, or is this fantasy?

A catchy upbeat indie psych pop rock, You should instantly connect with fans of Tame Impala or Lucius.  It’s freaky catchy while staying true to its narrative.  It’s a great find.

We were drawn to the infectious pump of The End is the End, the new single from The Flints.  This energetic psych pop bop grabs you by belt buckle and thrusts you to the dance floor.  A nostalgic construct cites 60s pop in both melody and narrative, while modern influences add to the cinematic reference.

Stylistically we hear the modern influence of Spoon and Tame Impala.  Like both The Flints are anthemic in nature and guaranteed to bring a concert audience to a frenzy.  They’re also refreshingly raw despite the polished modern psych tonality.  The new single is a lot of fun.  Hold on, it hits you hard.

The Flints are featured on our Best New Indie Playlist.

Few Bits are instantly catchy on their new single Future Dives.  Their art pop instincts collide with an indie pop sensibility on this dynamic new single.

Stylistically they bridge the gap between Fleetwood Mac, the Talking Heads, and even Ladytron in the songs closing disco synth freak out.  They also connect with more recent contemporary dream pop breakthroughs like Wild Nothing and Windowsweak.  Like all of them Few Bits brings insatiable nostalgia that lands fresh.  We’re into it.
