Emerging Folk – Slake, Sianon, Laurie Cave, Paula Mia

Something serene introduces Bonecollector, the new single from Slake.  The immersive intro grows intriguingly on this eclectic masterpiece.  The fury buried beneath the beauty comes to the surface in the songs late progressive shift.
Seeped in contrast and elegantly presented, Bonecollector is a cinematic journey.  They find the middle ground between Joni Mitchell and Jefferson Airplane.  It’s fantastic.

Sianon stole our heart with her new single Northside.  The song was written with another emerging indie who we’ve featured often, Hayden Calnin.  Together they’ve crafted a cinematic musical world which acts as a haunting tribute to the singers Grandmother.  The sentimental dedication includes a clip of her Grandmothers voice in the uplifting bridge movement.

Altogether it’s an ambient indie folk triumph.  Lose yourself in this moment.

We love the textured tonality bursting from The Long Night, the new single from Laurie Cave.  The banjo and acoustic guitar bring bright spark to this inspired composition.  The singer’s delivery is full of conviction and Americana soul.

It’s a moody adapted acoustic rock blend.  It bears an eclectic heart, an affect that evolves to a frenzy in the songs final movement.  Full of passion and embracing their eclectic spirit, Laurie Cave bridges the gap between Jose Gonzalez and the Mumford & Sons canon.  We can dig it.

Paula Mia sounds wise beyond her years on her impressive new single You know nothing.  The inspired introspective narrative tries to make sense of a complicated relationship.  It’s relatable in its impossible quarrel.  Some people just can’t help themselves.  Mia has penned them a proper tribute.

Through her convincing performance she brings the frustration known to this collateral dissapoinment.  A killer arrangement by her band finds her treading the middle ground between Boy Genius and Wilco.  You know nothing suggests Mia knows a lot about making great songs.
