What happens when The Knocks team up with Dragonette? Pure retro pop bliss! Their new single Foolish Pleasure is simply infectious. In that manner it recalls the legacy of Madonna, mixed with a modern influence familiar to Kacy Hill. Like Hill, Dragonette has already broken through as a retro pop buzz worthy superstar. With some past success pushing them forward, Foolish Pleasure could be the pop crossover to give them radio glory. Get into it!

Bending Grid is at it again. This time with a remix of Whole Again, the collaboration single from Fancy K and Brunetti. A delightful electro driven retro synth banger, Whole Again has enough pump to keep it relevant in today’s modern pop sphere. It hits heavy while retaining a delectable retro nature. Stylistically it adds some fair pop and dubstep influence into a synthwave element familiar to FM-84. We can dig it.

Le Concorde pens something beautiful with their recent Corpus Christi. A gorgeous arrangement amplifies their impressive musicianship. This could have been a Steely Dan song, but dressed in this retro pop tonality it hits more like Tears For Fears. It’s crazy convincing and guaranteed to thrust you into a rapture. The project is steeped in authenticity. It sounds like the music of the era because it’s penned by the originators. Their first release in 15 years, Corpus Christ was recorded by the legendary Calum Malcolm and features members of Jellyfish, ABC, and Trevor Horn. Get into it!

We adore the creative retro pop approach Balduvian Bears brings to their works. Their new single with Draculyn called Winter’s End fits the bill. It’s a thoughtful arrangement that makes a point to carve out some new space within this well travelled realm. The contrast of dark and light is magnificent. Melancholy chord changes alter the singers R&B sensibility into the new wave canon. In that way it blends an influence of modern indie with retro instincts. Stylistically they bridge the gap between New Order and Remi Wolf. It’s fantastic.
