Music Videos We Love – Rose Cousins, An Early Bird x &Tilly, Mason Via, Windser

Power. Depth. Passion. If you want a song with these qualities check out “Needed You” by Rose Cousins. This song comes as part of Conditions of Love Vol. 1, the seventh full-length release from the Juno Award-winning artist. Cousins is a talent and proves with this song that she needs no more than her vocals and a piano to create pure beauty. That’s true musicianship. There are some extra sounds that come in toward the end of the track and really elevate it, but the keys and singing remain the focal point.

The distant, dramatic percussion on this track reminds us of some Dermot Kennedy songs. And the style of the song reminds us a little of Sara Barellies. We’re happy to see Rose Cousins expanding her body of work and we can’t wait to listen to the rest of the record.  We’ll get there, but first we’re triple playing this fantastic music video. Featuring award worthy modern choreography from Kate Holden, the song and video together prove to be a milestone release for an emerging star.

The singer for &Tilly is amazingly versatile.  Her voice can be hypnotic or entrancing. She leans towards the serene with her contribution to The Way We Know; the emo indie folk breakthrough with An Early Bird

While &Tilly continues to make her mark as a generational talent, An Early Bird offers some intriguing contrast.  His voice has its own emotional yearn and angst.  It’s derived from an emo construct while giving in to some Elliot Smith style influence.

Beyond their voices the song is full of elegant depth and melodic brilliance.  Beautifully produced with bright textured tones, The Way We Know appropriately dreamy; an affect that’s enhanced by the songs sentimental music video.  Enjoy!

A bluegrass derived Americana vibe might not be your first choice of for a claymation theme video, but when it comes to Mason Via the unpredictable is where everything begins.  The song comes in the form of Melt in the Sun and the video is something completely different.

Abstract but dedicated to an appropriately prescribed theme, claymation artist Chloe Tyler stretches your imagination with a variety of intriguing setups.  The attention to detail is simply fantastic, not unlike the musicianship in this band.  Via and his crew are top notch.  Dig in.

Windser dropped an impressive performance video for their single Shut Up and Kiss Me. This illuminated on stage portrait amplifies the artists convincing stage presence.  The songs is a nice balance between croon and indie pop.  It finds the middle ground between Rufus Wainwright and Arctic Monkeys.  We love it. See for yourself.

Windser is the solo moniker singer/songwriter Jordan Topf chose after retreating to a house in the rural Northern California mountains. In early 2020 he emerged from isolation with songs that reflected heartbreak, loneliness, and the growth one experiences in moment of change. Shut Up and Miss Me is his coming out party. Get up and sway with it.
