Slowcoaching offer that their new single ‘It Was Nice Meeting You’ exists in a restless space where insomnia, disassociation and the struggle with human connection blur together. The myths about confusing bursts of inspiration during periods of insomnia is well travelled. Slowcoaching offer some convincing evidence. The new single is a cinematic triumph that wades between a patchwork of influences. Its a sure thing for fans of War On Drugs and Kurt Vile. We’re super into it.

The Scuttlers warped our mind with their new single Public Holiday. We love innovation, and we got that and more from the approach to this expressive guitar part. Public Holiday stretched our imagination in a way that recalls the abstract genius of projects like Dirty Projectors or Grizzly Bear. They do a lot with a bare bone arrangement without over indulging in production and sonic cheats. We think its killer.

Carousel Blonde finds some fresh catchy appeal within a classic indie rock vibe on their recent Walls. Right when we thought this well had been tapped, Carousel Blonde shows there’s still some room to roam within the influence of Kings of Leon or Snow Patrol. Its a great composition with influential lineage you can trace to U2 or Chris Cornell. Rock is forever.

Softie just dropped their debut studio single and its a banger. The song is called Kiss Kiss Kiss, and its blessed with harmonious layers of noise and fuzz. This noisy shoegaze blend is best absorbed on great speakers at peak volume. It’s meant to be immersed in, and its likely presented extremely loud in concert. That’s the design and we love it. There’s a liberating affect to shoegaze, amplified by the emotional yearn of the vocal. Softie has all of that and more. Oakland has a winner in Softie.
