Scienze and NappyHIGH are back with their new single “Magic.” The track, which features Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins, is a fresh take on modern boom bap, taking advantage of unique drum placement which gives the track its bounce. Scienze’s energy on the beat is reminiscent of New York’s late Jayy Grams, and the production suggests Kaelin Ellis as an influence, who has worked with everybody from Lupe Fiasco to Vince Staples.
“Magic” is guided by its drums, but the old school soul sample intertwined amongst the percussion is what brings the vibe together. When Mick Jenkins emerges for the final verse, we can’t help but think of Atlanta native André 3000. Scienze and Mick Jenkins effortlessly flowed on this beat, which is what keeps us coming back for more.

CYNiKAL doesn’t need to be boisterous in order to catch our attention. His track “HERMiT iSLAND”, which also features 4.47 FM and Raki Lenz, is a perfect example of how his laid-back tone and smooth production can accumulate to a dreamy atmosphere not often found in hip hop. His flow coincides with the beat perfectly and creates an immersive environment where we find ourselves lost in song.
“HERMiT iSLAND” reminds us of artists like Doechii and Isaiah Rashad. CYNiKAL’s delivery is both fun and smooth, and he’s careful to not overstep in terms of energy.

Werdperfect has caught our attention with his song “Magnum Opus.” The bass-heavy track guide’s Werdperfect through his unique wordplay and lyricism. “Magnum Opus” reminds us of a strong blend between Mac Miller, Earl Sweatshirt, and even hints of Dreamville artists Bas and JID.
Werdperfect’s lyricism is one to keep an eye on in 2025. The boom bap rapper opened up the year with a bang when he released “Magnum Opus”, and we can’t wait to see what he does next.

Kause and Kagiso are on our radar for their song “Blackstar.” The track feels like an unexpected unique blend between artists like Kenny Mason and Bladee. Although it’s a Hip Hop song, the first half’s Rock influences are strong and apparent.
Almost halfway through the track, there’s a shift in energy that lands us in a trap composition before ultimately returning to the initial Rock influenced start of the song. The two separate sections come together to assemble this cinematic Trap-Rock banger.
