“Analisa,” the title track from Avery Grace’s recent album release, is a heartfelt and expressive piece of artistry that hits home for us. The broken down, minimalist production style is the first thing that drew us in. A crisp few layers of acoustic guitar is all the instrumentation that Avery Grace needs for her vocal work to shine through in this one. Harmonies are sharp and on point throughout the tune, assisting the deeply impactful emotions evoked by her thoughtful lyricism.
Fans of female folk singer-songwriters like Laura Lucas and Clairo will instantly connect with Avery Grace’s intoxicating songwriting skills. We love the classic and intimate folk vibe of this tune and look forward to hearing more from her.

We were really impressed with Heed The Call the new album from Scott Jackson. The prolific songwriter wades between various modes of indie folk realms. Its heard in expressive guitar songs like the title track, which has a similar vibe to his breakthrough single Ghosts in the Night.” The second tune from Scott Jackson’s recent album drop showcases Scott’s ability to retain that classic folk sound while keeping things modern and fresh. He does this through the utilization of modern studio techniques to create ambient, ethereal overtones, pairing them with staple folk instruments like the acoustic guitar and banjo.
The vocal work here is impressive. It feels just as raw and authentic as the lyrics being sung. We love the tension created through his harmonies and the gradual build into light percussion and stronger instrumentation towards the end of this song. We’re also big fans of the single Howl and Growl. If you are looking for a folk artist with a similar vibe to Bon Iver or Sufjan Stevens, check out his music.

Mike Stocksdale released a wonderfully performed live record in March, Settle Down! Live at the Hotel Cafe 12.11.24. One highlight is “Bad Bad World (Live),” a faithfully charged reflection on remaining hopeful in a rigorous and demanding world. We love the artistry here. This song was performed live, with no studio magic to assist in the process of recording. In spite of this, we think that Mike’s vocal work, harmonica playing, and rhythm guitar are all elite.
We hear authenticity in both his lyricism and overall musical style, with a sound that bridges the gap between classic folk singers like Jim Croce and modern indie folk sensations like Noah Kahan. We dig what this artist has been up to lately and can’t wait for more.

“Too Long,” the latest single from emerging indie folk artist Bardie, is immediately infectious with its eclectic style and ethereal soundscapes. This one feels a bit different from the norm. It showcases a myriad of instrumentation that works together to assist a breathy and relaxed vocal melody. We love the sonic tension created here. An intriguing chord progression is created with piercing brass tones, shimmering keyboards, and multiple guitar lines, each element nicely blended and easily identifiable through extraordinary production quality.
We hear influences from bands like The Verve and Oasis in this tune, exemplified by their sonic creativity and melancholic vibe. If you dig that dreamy 90’s vibe, this band may be right for you.
