It starts off with the track Recipe For Disaster, which immediately draws you in with a catchy hook and chords that have a western feel. Her vocals are deep and euphoric. Adding a touch of string instruments and horns makes this song symphonic, which builds up to an epic finish. With what the title of the album suggests, the artist holds up to that theme of “circus.” Haunting and creepy, the track Cocoon immerses you in the experience.
Those who are fans of Sub Urban and Melanie Martinez will enjoy the playful yet eerie themes of this album. The track BOOM! is riveting and exciting, supported by the lyrics themself, which explode in excitement. In addition, the atmosphere is vibrant with the mix of percussive elements along and the horns. The next track, Dream Girl, in contrast with the last track, is slow and moody. With minimal instruments accompanying the vocals for most of the song, the emotion and meaning come out when more instruments come in during the chorus. This song upholds the album’s haunting aesthetic, especially with the hypnotic addition of the cello and vocal harmonies in the last verse.
We can hear the synth pop influences along with alternative rock in this album. The track Loose Woman is about being accepting of yourself, where the singer is proud of her misfit and strange energy, perfectly on theme with the album. The drums and the bass keep the track going and make it super catchy. The last track on the album, Time is Honey, is a strong finish. The song is a great metaphor for time, perfect for a song that sounds timeless. The effect on the vocals is similar to an old microphone, adding to the creepy themes. A short track, but an enchanting one, the song is beautifully encapsulating. Overall, the tracks on this album are consistent with the creative theme. This album is full of unique, infectious songs, great with passion and poetry. We were very impressed with this album and encourage you to listen to it yourself.
