Best New Indie – Dag och Natt, Rainsford, Far Caspian, Kramon

Swedish indie rock quartet Dag och Natt has released their debut single, “Iron Man,” an airy, atmospheric exploration into that classic shoegaze indie rock sound. This is the first single release from their debut album, Years and Years, which will be released on August 15th. We love the sonic dissonance in this one. The vocals are light, inventive, and carefully constructed to fit the vibe of this tune’s darker, more moody instrumentation. Ethereal overtones are employed throughout the tune, blending with the reverb-washed vocal and guitar melodies in a playful and intriguing fashion.

Fans of shoegaze oriented groups like Slowdive and the Cocteau Twins will instantly connect with this emerging indie band and their unique style. Dag och Natt takes the foundations laid by these artists and adds their own, modernized twist that is bound to turn heads. We look forward to hearing more in the coming months.

Indie pop artist Rainsford is back with her latest single release, “Horse.” This one is a feel-good summer anthem through and through. Catchy vocal melodies, experimental instrumentation, and an insatiable groove that leaves us wanting more. We love this artist’s vocal harmonies as well, each one piercing and spot on.

We hear similarities to the music from artists like Lorde and Clairo, exemplified by their masterful production quality and soothing vocal performance. Rainsford uses an intimate, comforting vocal tone to convey themes of uncertainty and the cycles of manipulation, amplifying them with overdriven instrumentation in the latter half of the song. We really dig the juxtaposition between sneakily dark lyricism and lighter, more playful instrumentation.

Irish alternative/indie pop group Far Caspian recently dropped “ An Outstretched Hand/Rain From Here To Kerry,” an eclectic and uplifting tune that breathes life into us. This one is sonically dense, yet airy and atmospheric at the same time. We love the use of layering stringed instrumentation to create syncopated melodies that scratch the back of our minds in just the right spot. Far Caspian seamlessly bridges the gap between dream pop bands like Beach House and indie rock groups like Hippo Campus.

With an upcoming 2025 fall tour that has scheduled dates in both Europe and the US, Far Caspian is taking the indie scene by storm. Be on the lookout for their next album release, autofiction, coming July 25th.

Kramon, an emerging indie pop group, has released their debut single, “Crush.” This tune creates dreamscapes that are unparalleled in the indie music scene. We absolutely love the experimental vibe here. A variety of atmospheric synth sounds are employed throughout the tune, each one working with the drum groove and fitting nicely into the pocket. Fans of the more exploratory side of indie pop will instantly connect with this artist’s style. It reminds us of a blend of indie artists, such as Gigi Perez, The Marias, and beabadoobee.

With a psychedelic, groovy vibe that is unique to the genre, Kramon is a name that you will not want to forget. Do not miss out on this music.
