Renowned indie-folk artist Tommy Ashby recently dropped Mantis, an introspective, heartfelt collection of tunes that hit right at home for us. Highlights include Liar Liar, an inventive and dreamy tune that pushes the boundaries of folk in a modern setting. We love the combination of overdriven electric and mellowed-out acoustic instrumentation throughout this one, as well as the intricate vocal harmonies and overall song structure. The production quality on this one is also noteworthy.
His hushed vocal style and experimental production is reminiscent of artists like Gregory Alan Isakov and and Bon Iver; fans of more experimental indie-folk will instantly connect with this artist’s sound. We look forward to hearing more from them in the near future.

Donnie Coco recently dropped “All of It,” a symphonic and experimental indie-folk tune that instantly caught our ear. We love the progressions in this song. They keep us engaged throughout its duration, changing into new sections swiftly and unexpectedly, each one offering something interesting and unique. The vocals are masterfully sung and produced as well, with equally masterful harmonies and backing instrumentation.
We are reminded of the jazzier side of indie-folk music with this tune, hearing similarities to the music of Laufey with a mix of modern pop influences like beabadoobie. We dig the trippy nature to this one, and want more.
