If the thought of a 9 to 5 didn’t sound bad enough already, Moviola’s “Slage Wave” will really put it into perspective. The song and video highlight the ubiquitous struggles of employees everywhere, and the irrational compensation.
Moviola is seen working a hot dog food truck before ultimately going on strike to rebel against the unfair conditions of work. The most frustrating part of it all is written in the lyrics, where they say “you don’t work, you don’t get paid, you don’t get nothing.” Oh, the tragic domino effect of our reliance on money.
Have you ever imagined yourself in the midst of a story you’re reading? Well for Smokey Brights, those dreams become reality in the video for their new song “All in Who You Know,” which depicts them as mythical characters in a book lead singer Kim West is seen reading to open the video.
Smokey Brights trek long distances across vast landscapes, and don’t bother changing out of their surreal costumes to jam out together in the middle of an open field. Something about the costumery and scenery remind me of a blend between Lord of the Rings and The Legend of Zelda, and the fabled aesthetic is just as pleasing as the song itself.
The dark color scheme and landscape of Packaging’s “Running Through the Airport” is fitting for the vibe of the song. The whole thing feels like a race against time, and the only signs of hope amidst the gloomy environment are the subtle highlights of yellow, whether it’s Packaging’s yellow jacket or the city lights that line the background.
A figure with an eyeball for a head acts as the main antagonist, perhaps signifying that Packaging feels he’s always being watched. For the majority of the video Packaging is seen running through various scenarios, until he ultimately finds himself on a boat sailing away.
Choreography is the primary focus in Lou Tides new video for her song “Autostatic!” Although backup dancers play an important role in providing support for her, Tides remains the focal point throughout the majority of the video.
An eerie and hazy backdrop behind the group of dancers is reminiscent of the iconic video for the legendary “Thriller” by Michael Jackson. The heavy makeup on Lou Tides along with the Thriller-like aesthetic give the song and video a pleasantly nostalgic feel.
