Starting off on our retro-pop discoveries, from Fourmarks, we were wildly impressed by their new single, Reflection. Although synth-pop is the best descriptor for their music, this group isn’t afraid to step outside of the boundaries. The synth melodies are incredibly dynamic and engaging, accompanied by electrifying drum rhythms that elevate the exhilarating atmosphere in this track.
The vocals are fit with clean harmonies, and the layers of electric guitar never stop moving. The lyricism is notably complex, a poetic masterpiece. A band unlike any other, they are described as a “disturbing pop collage.” With only a few singles out, we hope more music is to come soon. We heavily encourage you to hear this innovation for yourself.

Another retro-pop single that caught our attention was Nothing Can Hurt Me, a new track from John Moran featuring Kelly McMichael and Jake Nicoll. Equipped with dreamy, deep vocals and harmonies in contrast, this track entrances you with its themes through the bittersweet sound of the synth melody. Its drums are created with compelling sound effects, experimental in nature.
The electric guitar that layers over top is invitingly hypnotic, adding to the hazy, peaceful soundscapes. Fans of Cocteau Twins and Turnover will connect with the soothing, misty tones of this track. Overall, this single is an exciting collaboration that we encourage you to listen to for yourself.

This next new single from Tropics stood out to us, titled Ionian Mirage, for its immediately mesmerizing melody in the electric piano chords. The simplicity in the instrumental is executed well, as it balances between the piano, bass, and drums with an indie-pop and R&B vibe. The vocals are clear and gentle, singing a truly serene melody.
The touch of the electric guitar weaves through the layers of instrumental without overpowering anything, which emphasizes the polished mix of the track. Along with this incredible track is a unique music video that encapsulates the visionary approach of the artist. After hearing this single, we are excited to witness the evolution of Tropics.
