Undiscovered Gems – Yael Ariel, Bad Self Portraits, Weakened Friends

First on our list is Yael Ariel, whose new single, DRUMI BASS, comes from the influences of trip-hop. Immediately, this track invites you in with enchanting piano chords and ecstatic melodies, which are elevated by the stunning vocals it accompanies. A short track, but it never falls short of exciting your ears with its unconventional structure.

Although it’s shortly featured in the song, the drum beat is the tone setter for this track. It ensures you will feel the raw, riveting energy intended by the artist. This track is one of many on her album, THE MYSTERY ITSELF, which is full of the creative vision of this trailblazer. An artist who both relaxes you and exhilarates you, you won’t want to miss out on hearing this.

Our next single, ‘Pensive,’ from Bad Self Portraits, is a rock-influenced track. Your attention won’t struggle to stay on this track, as its initial start with the electric guitar invites a soul-stirring feeling with its ethereal, melancholy tone. The vocals, blissful and lush, balance perfectly with the melodies and chords of the instrumental.

This single is easy to love, as it offers a unique, but infectious perspective on indie rock and shoegaze emo. You can hear reminiscent sounds to artists like Basement and Turnover, as well as the distinctive sound this group has made for themself. This single was released in anticipation of their debut album, coming out in September, called ‘I Think I’m Going To Hell.’

We strongly encourage you to check out this single, which you can find on our All New Rock 2025 Playlist.

Lastly, another on our rock list is from Weakened Friends, titled Tough Luck (Bleed Me Out). From their indie rock and pop-punk approach, they bring us a groundbreaking single with unpredictable melodies and intense vocals. The raw, gritty sound in the electric guitar is the foundation for the track’s riveting texture, as its embelished with distortion and overdrive.

With sounds that are inspired by bands like Waterparks and State Champs, this group takes the boundaries of contemporary pop rock and breaks them with the utter power of their sound. This single is to be featured on their upcoming album, Feels Like Hell, which is out in October. Accompanying their album release is the Feels Like Hell Tour, which you can now buy tickets to see them around the US.
