Matthew Smith Group caught our attention with their new single Others. This is some sweet sweet nostalgia. They take an influence of 60s pop in a way that transitory. Stylistically they recall the rare influence of Beach Boys, Mamas and Papas, and The Byrds. Most effectively, they do it in a way that’s not cheesy. Rather, it reeks with authenticity. In that way they recalls modern indie icons like Dr Dog and Peter Bjorn and John. So cool.

Night Teacher lands hypnotic on their recent single New Cage. They honor their tantric rock essence with a fabulous companion video (see above). Together it’s an enchanting indie rock vibe aesthetic. In that manner they recall projects like The Weather Station. Like them, Night Teacher has a mystical essence. Their writing is elusive while their singer has a rare exotic touch. We love it.
