Undiscovered Gems – Traitrs, Dawid Bestry, Motrik, Tom A Smith

TRAITRS would have you Burn In Heaven and that’s not all. The inspired darkwave post punk rock vibes land authentic on their convincing new release. The chorus hits, landing a darker sentiment on a vibe familiar to The Cure. They add a subtle modern sonic sensibility while staying committed to the nostalgia. Stylistically its a sure thing for rock fans and darkwave fans alike.

Magic happened when Dawid Bestry teamed up wtih Victorrria on his new single w monochromie. The shoegaze feel finds melodic gold courtesy of the singers intoxicating touch. She finds all the right notes to compliments Dawid’s fuzzy guitar sanctuary. Altogether its a beautiful noise fit for some complicated dreamscape. We love it.

Motrik might be having the most fun. The video for their new single Weightless suggests the dream is still alive. Through kids and trivial circumstance the post punk purveyors retain their edge. Weightless is a convincing arrangement that should please fans of Idles and Devo alike. The guitar work is smart and full of surprise, while the action has a sense of urgency reflected in the videos frantic storyline. This band is cool.

Tom A Smith is vibrant on his recent single I Don’t Blame You. This post punk poetic tirade rings with attitude and cheeky aesthetic. Proto pop with an indie rock edge, Smith recalls the legacy of Cake updated with an angry post punk twist. The contrast of the groove beneath the jagged syncopated attack of guitars taps an interpretive angle fit for a dance solo. The vibe is bussing. Dig in.
