Canadian recording project Wants has tackled the classic OG ska banger Ghost Town by The Specials and warped it into a retro new wave banger. Glazed with some post punk flavor and altered convincingly, the new version still retains the melodic essence of the original while presenting as something entirely new and fresh. We like that kind of intentional brilliance and the ability to foresee another angle within a completed work. Well done!

Body surfing season might be drifting behind us but you can soak into a metaphorical music vibe courtesy of the new single Sunsets of Summer. This timely homage comes via Synthwave project Spring Break ’83 feathering 10eighty6 and INDIGO. Its a surefire retro pop delight in the vein of classic cuts by The Midnight and FM84. It finds some fresh footing with an impressive vocal performance that lands authentic. We find it dreamy and entrancing. Dig in.

Obsoletha are on a tear. They immediately caught our attention with their single Youthless Now, and have once again blew our mind with their new single Forget The Lyrics. There’s probably some artificial support happening here but you can’t deny that the songs a banger. The lyrics are crazy creative and fairly unassuming, while the production ideas and instrumentation are top notch. They find the middle ground between The War On Drugs, Sam Fender, and FM84. Its a vibe.
