Set amidst the sun-baked landscapes of the desert Southwest, Hotel Draw is a four-piece electric americana band with a knack for crafting catchy. Their sound blurs the lines between rock, country, and folk with an overall indie vibe that paints a picture of life and love in the lower left corner of Colorado. You can trace this legacy back to the Flying Burrito Brothers with an adapted modern indie jam feel akin to Billy Strings or Dawes. Their latest 7 songs release Spirit Come Spirit Go should lift them to new heights, with crowd pleasers like the piano dust up that is When You Go or the dirty Americana groove of Milk & Honey. Anyone on the circuit will agree, when you can bring the heat in concert you put asses in seats. Print it.

The dreamiest fever dream lullaby shows itself in eleven, the new single from Sikade. Triple dipped in echo soaked vibes, this illuminated freak folk aura wades in some complicated sleepy world. There’s a cinematic indie folk essence that the root of the writing, but dressed in this manner eleven lands angelic. Float away with Sinkade.

Zoe Stroupe is back with a new full length and we think its gorgeous. One Fluid Motion is a prolific statement that shows a songwriter with incredible skills. Stroupe has truly found her voice. She’s an old soul, with one foot in the influence of Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake and another in the modern indie folk canon. She’s a more creative and unpredictable affect of Lizzie McAlpine or Clairo. Her latest single I Know is a good jump off for anyone looking for indie folk innovations. We love it.

SKORTS dropping chill bangers was not on our Bingo card for 2025, but their recent Anyone is a dreamy soft pop delight. The empress wears new clothes on this convincing chameleon act. Its a little bit of Mazzy Star mixed with Mannequin Pussy’s writing style. We love dynamic bands with multiple creative approaches. Don’t skip on Anyone.

The bonus blog love on today’s column goes out to station favorite &Tilly and her recent holiday release I Saw Three Ships. This is our kind of creepy holiday freak folk highlight. If you’re going to adapt a standard ghostly you can’t do much better. Her voice is so unique and it lends itself to cinematic inferences. You might hear a refugee child or a poor peasant girl in her soft broken delivery. Both filled with wonder in hope in tandem with the holidays legacy. What gifts might come to them transcend 1st world excess. &Tilly gives us the inspiration we hope for in well traveled seasonal music.
