Best New Rock – The Empty Page, Dreamwave, Revolution Above Disorder, Full Flower Moon Band

The Empty Page caught our attention with their new single When We Gonna Run? There’s vintage nostalgia in the guitars melodic temperament, while the vocals bring a convincing scorn to this inspired vibe. We hear evidence of post punk and 80s alternative mixed with modern indie rock sentiments familiar to their native Manchester. Stylistically they blend the realms of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Idles, and At The Drive In.

There’s a ferocity to Murmurs on the Dune, the new single from Dreamwave. The vamping introductory riff lands magnetic as sweeps of sonic drama accentuate the cinematic symbolism. The effectively treated vocal calls from some other dimension as vibrant layered guitar jangle violently. Stylistically they find the middle ground between Jesus and Mary Chain & Tame Impala. We love it.

Give yourself to The Vicious, the new single from Revolution Above Disorder. A masterclass in revolving fuzzy riffs, The Vicious is a rich wash of harmonic noise. It pumps immersively, engulfing you in its acquired scorn. The singer has a hint of Brit Pop in his catchy delivery. In that way they find the middle ground between Spoon and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Good stuff.

Weekend smokers rejoice! We have found your anthem! If you’re known to ritually ditch the bar for a quick puff by the entrance despite your weekday cig rejection, you are not alone! Dress that sentiment into this cheeky post punk vibe and you’ve got yourself a verified hit. That’s what Full Flower Moon Band & Drunk Moms did when they teamed up on the new banger Smoking. We love this kind of thoughtful slightly humorous but brutally honest kind of songwriting. Fans of Courtney Barnett or Parquet Courts will be instantly into it. We think everyones knows someone who needs this.
