Best New Rock -The Stacys, Stellar Ruins, Known Moons, All Things Blue

The Stacys reiterate that Rock has some room to run on their new single Eye Of The Storm. An eclectic indie rock blend cites an influence of grunge bands like Nirvana. We also hear similarities to early outliers by the complicated career of family band Kings of Leon. Like both The Stacys embrace a raw furious aesthetic despite that inherited talent. The singer is a gem, with an enviable vibrato that lands convincing. The collective musicianship is impressive, a detail that resonates with the early revival aura of Pearl Jam. Altogether it’s a killer rock throwback everyone can agree on.

Stellar ruins caught our attention with their new release, Bitter Takeaways. There is an intriguing. There is an intriguing fury to this performance. They take elements of Indie punk and combine them with an influence of Gothic alternative in a way that is refreshing and exciting. We also hear elements of shoegaze in the collective blend. They effectively find the middle ground between the Cure & Jesus and Mary chain. It’s a killer release.

There is an expressive melodic brilliance to TIME the new single from Known Moons. The harmonious approach to the guitar part, with its calculated picking, accentuates the most melodic details of the progression. The singer offers an emotional edge with dramatic appeal in a way that will draw comparisons to an emo influence. That direction culminates with a late arrangement, trumpet solo courtesy of one of the members of American football. Know Moons connects the dots between fifth wave emo and indie rock in a way that sounds like they belong together. We’re super into it!

There is something about a place and how it influences a person. India Coombs understands the polarities of American existence. The Allentown native now resides in California. That dynamic musical influence shows in their new single Bad Jawn. We knew there was a Philly connection the second we saw the phrase. India performs under the moniker All Things Blue, and the Philly influence definitely infects her sound. She fits in well with fans of mannequin pussy or acts like Big Thief, who were regulars in the Philly area early in their touring career. Its a sound that Philly loves and a style we embrace wholeheartedly.
