Retro Pop Revival – Minute Taker, Madeline Goldstein, Waves_On_Waves, TRAITRS

Cinematic suspense is at the root of Surrender To The Night, the new single from Minute Taker. Seemingly tailor made for the songs convincing music video, Surrender To the Night doesn’t shy from its soundtrack based inspiration. Its a cool mix of Eighties Pop and crossover soundtrack Eighties Rock. Stylistically it easily connects with OG synthwave releases from FM-84 or The G. We love it.

Madeline Goldstein has been navigating various dream realms within her dark moody synth pop catalog. Her latest might be her most imaginative. Just take the title for example; Dream 2 Die (No Heaven). It’s a heavy sentiment that suits the songs curious blend. Both seductive and dark, Goldstein channels stylistic references familiar to Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, and Human League. We’re into it.

The amazing voice employed by Waves_On_Waves has been coralling influences of gothic rock and post punk into his 80s framework for the last couple years. That mission has hit paydirt with his recent single Since ’99. Modern but seeped in nostalgic influence, the new single collaboration Crimewave is refreshingly intoxicating. You can dance to the snap of the beat or get lost in the dreamy reverence of his voice. Great stuff.
