Some artists are able to blend their influences seamlessly. Describing themselves as genre fluid, &Tilly embrace that perplexity on their recent single Make Me. In both melody and and rhythmic aesthetic we hear a heavy influence of Tool or Perfect Circle, but presented with a completely different production style. Synths more familiar to retro pop or industrial pop land curious as their magnificent singer graces her trademark timbre throughout. She’s both haunting and intoxicating, trailing under your skin in a way thats oddly inviting. The video is a gem too (see above). We’re big fans of this project.

We love the funky retro new wave surprise offered on Elephant, the new single from Flight To London. Chic 80s pop gets honored on this convincing composition. This is how we imagine Duran Duran might have sounded if they were produced by Prince. The melodies are smooth while a funky slapping bass bounces of the sparkling shimmer of the synths. Its a tight track. Flight To London is the synth-pop collaboration of Jimmy McGorman and Robb Vallier, born from a deep obsession with ’80s icons like Tears For Fears, Phil Collins, and Depeche Mode.

We were drawn into the dark siren essence heard on Ghost Waves, the new single from Shadow Colonies. Untethered untamed production feels emulates the resistance offered by an innocent soul as the rapture of the singers presence entices them into the darkness. Her presence is both dark and seductive, adding to the erotic complex. Shadow Colonies are film enthusiasts and influenced by electronic, metal, trip hop, synthwave and gaming. They build intense, emotional songs which create a deep and dark melodic soundtrack for the listener. Their songs explore love, death, ideologies, myth and separation. We can dig it.
