Abby Power ft Sam XVI – Ghosts

Underground hip hop raptress Abby Power teams with producer SamXVI on her new single Ghosts.  Infectious female rappers are our jam and Abby Power has been high on our buzz list for a couple years now.  Despite our adoration she still fly too far under the radar considering her impressive lyrical prowess.  She’s both swift and catchy, with intriguing percussive cadence and sultry attitude.

In the spirit of Mary J or Lauryn Hill she can adapt to a singing voice in the chorus sections, but it’s her raps that really draw us in.  Abby embraces Lauryn Hill, Kanye, and Mos Def as influences.  Like them, her jams are insanely catchy and her lyrical skills are phenomenal.

Fair The God – Never Lose

Fair The God reigns anthemic on their inspiring new single Never Lose.  From the dramatic courage the beat offers to the rappers energetic verse, Never Lose is convincing in how it asserts conviction.  The narrative scans several difficult topics that range from loyalty, hardship, and mental health.

It’s not just about him; the artist channels common experiences known to his community.  In the second verse he examines new societal traps and how they hold back our single Mother’s from thriving.  It’s the kind of song that rings familiar and reminds you that our shared struggles are relatable; we are not alone.  For fans of J Cole, Skyzoo, and TuPac.
